HTML has gotten many new standard elements,
such as <dialog>, which significantly reduce the need for error-prone custom JS-code.
The same is true for CSS and, e.g., its new page transition API for animated navigation.
The reduction of code leads to increased developer efficiency and app performance, thus better user experiences, while also reducing the risk of bugs and accessibility issues.
JavaScript is the foundation for any interactive element on the web.
The ecosystem surrounding JS is absolutely massive, with developers all over the world driving innovation in this sector.
TypeScript is a must-have in all web projects for ensuring code quality and developer productivity.
It is also best practice to use a component framework, such as Angular, Vue, or Svelte, especially for larger projects. There are also meta frameworks available to utilize different rendering strategies, e.g. Nuxt or SvelteKit.
Angular is the framework for enterprise-scale SPAs. Ideally suited for PWAs — performant, offline-capable and including all the goodies of the web plattform.

Every web project requires a backend of some sort. Typically, as an interface to databases and third party systems.
Java is a classic among languages for backend systems and a variety of other use cases — from desktop to mobile.
The special aspect of Java is the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), which enables Java’s platform-independence. Its isolation furthermore guarantees secure runtime environments.
Additionally, newer languages can take advantage of the JVM, too, and thus be platform-independent out of the box. This is what Scala and Kotlin, for example, are doing to bring the Functional Programming paradigm into the Java world.
Kotlin is a young language in the Java ecosystem. Many of its features allow for more efficient coding while increasing code quality.
Kotlin supports bidirectional interoperability to and from Java and comes with mature integrations to its ecosystem, e.g., using Spring Boot. But it also has its own alternatives like Kotr.
Since the language is new, its developers at Jetbrains could get inspired by other modern languages and, most importantly, learn from their mistakes and issues and make sure, those wouldn’t happen to Kotlin. Because of that, Kotlin does not suffer from boilerplate code. The code is easier to read and maintain and thus, writing software is more efficient.
Google too realized Kotlin’s great benefits and made Kotlin the new official programming language for all of Android’s app development!
Spring makes the development of JVM-based apps really powerful in terms of quality and efficiency.
Spring is a modular system with built-in functionality for REST APIs, security, database integrations, software tests and many more.

Relational database have been around forever, but CSP have invested greatly to make the classics surrounding SQL cloud-ready, scalable and highly available.
RDBMS are ideally suited for relational data, especially when data structures are known and data integrity is crucial for the application’s domain.
In contrary to NoSQL databases, there is no need to know all the read patterns in advance the get the most of relational databases. And even full text search capabilities are available, too.
For hosting we use AWS, specifically RDS which is their service for all big RDBMS plus Amazon Aurora, a cloud-native alternative to MySQL and PostgreSQL for even better scalability, availability and is even available as serverless offering.

There are a ton of tools in this space. Some are essential to any modern software development process.
Git is an easy-to-use tool that is a must-have for every code base to work with versions and for CI.
For CD-processes Jenkins is used frequently, personally I use tools from AWS. The latter also comes with monitoring tools for logs and analytics.
